Digiscooping med handkikare - Camera plus binoculars test

Swarovski has newly released a snapshot adapter to mount a digital pocket camera on their binoculars. This adapter is included when buying the EL and SLC types. On the Swarovski site you can download an instruction (pdf file) how this is done and it includes also photographic  examples.

My Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3 pocket camera became snug fit when directly adapted to my Nikon Monarch 10x42 binoculars and when set to no zoom. Maximum camera zoom is 2.5 times but then it was difficult to mount the camera. 2 .0 times zoom was OK.

This is the camera view with no  zoom.

This is the none cropped result with no zoom in the camera (autofocus being used) together with the 10x42 binoculars.

The same photo as above, but cropped to get rid of round hole effect.

This is the result with 2.0 times zoom in the camera, handheld and autofocus and no cropping. It was difficult to hold the assembly by hand. You had to fucus the binoculars as well. Stabilizing mode is a must. As you can see it is no hole effect when zooming. This was a very quick try and the photo environment was not the best, through the window, snowing and low light. I will later on try to shoot videos with this 20 times zoom set-up. Thank you Swarovski for the idea.
